Visteon Adds A Little Transformer Flafor To Your Ride
DVD players are about as cheap as they can get. A Yamaha Progressive Scan DVD player that can play any region, NTSC & PAL, DivX, XviD, MP3s and WMVs go for less than $60. Off brand ones at almost half the price. Portable players have gone sub $100. Apple's new IPod is still somewhat pricey but what I'm getting at is, portable video is cheap. Sure, a Kenwood in-dash DVD player is still $1000+ for some reason I won't get into here but the market is offering a lot.
It's almost to the point where people are a little annoyed at how many different video devices they now have to manage in their homes, cars and brief cases. Visteon is offering a nice solution to the mobile DVD player dilemma. It's new product lives in your car, la la la, I'm a car DVD player, look at me, aren't I cute. Then, BAM, it pops out and it's good for a flight, your tent (assuming you're of the camping sort) or the dentist's office where you showed up 10 minutes early and you're still waiting in reception 45 minutes later. The nerve of some people...
The notes in their PDF say it can be upgraded and should support compressed video formats which seems to be a wink wing nudge nudge saying it will play downloaded video files. Need I say more?
